Words of Life

Another Jewish boy reaches adolescence,

Gets to read the Scriptures with the men.

Yet this one is different:

The things He says,

The questions He asks

Bring ancient texts to life.

Scholars turn into students,

As God’s Word is opened up to them.

Suddenly they are interrupted:

Worried parents enter the room.

“Son, why have you done this to us? 

Look, your father and I have sought you anxiously.”

“Why do you seek Me? 

Did you not know that I must be about my Father’s business?”

Memories come back:

Had not the angel announced,

“He will be called the Son of God.”?

Light has come into darkness;

Truth is revealed.

But new wine requires new wineskins.

Are you prepared to receive His truth?

Are you ready to be transformed by His words of life?
